Pathwise Press and Bathtub Gin Going on Hiatus
January 16, 2007 -- If you are familiar with small presses and literary magazines, you know the effort it takes to
juggle such operations with other commitments. Many mags and presses start with a bang, last a
while and then die a slow death to the point of simply fading away. Pathwise and Bathtub Gin haven't
been dying, but after ten years the leeches of time have started to sap their collective energy.
I've known this for a while and have tried to keep things running, but, to be honest, I haven't been
putting the ol' 100% into it and I thing the magazine and press have suffered lately because of that.
So, it is time to take a break, let other things run their courses and let the creative energies wait
to bloom again. Following the release of Gin #20 and Kell Robertson's Bear Crossing in April,
the mag and press will be going on hiatus for a while.
Fear not, readers and critics, this isn't the end of this little corner of independent publishing...simply a
vacation, a time out, or whatever metaphor for passing time you would like to use. During this time, this
website will continue to be updated and I will continue to fill orders for issues and books in stock. Perhaps a
broadside or two might even appear. After all, Kell's book is shaping up nicely and will be worth you reading, so
we can't let that go unnoticed. And Joseph Kerschbaum's latest is still making the rounds. (This is where you stop
reading and follow the catalog link to your left to purchase these...go, go..).
Sincerely,
Christopher Harter
